NUTRITION FOR WELL-BEING AND VITALITY!

Life sustenance depends upon optimal nourishment through the consumption of food. However, the modern fast-paced lifestyles along with the advanced technology of food manufacturing, forces people to make poor food choices and become concerned anly with the relieve of their hunger and satisfaction of their appetite. 

It is important to understand that food is a necessity for our life as it supplies us with nutrients and energy, which are essential to keep us alive and healthy, to support growth, regeneration and reproduction of every single cell in our bodies!

Food provides us with essential nutrients categorized as energy-yielding nutrients or macronutrients such as carbohydrates, lipids and proteins as well as water and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) needed to regulate many important body processes. Our daily diet also contains non-essential nutrients that are not necessary for life, but have health-promoting and disease-fighting properties. An example is a phytochemical found in broccoli called sulforaphane which may reduce the risk of cancer.

A balanced and healthy diet does not need to exclude processed convenience foods (e.g. hamburger, pizza), but it must include a variety from all food groups to meet our nutrient requirements and prevent the development of diseases.

Proper nutrition leads to a healthy body weight with an ideal body composition and functional neuro-muscular system. 

A well-nourished individual is more likely to be mentally and physically alert with a strong immune system able to fight infections!
